Recent polls position Socialist Emmanuel Grégoire, Paris's first deputy mayor, as the frontrunner to lead the first round of the 2026 municipal election with 25-30% support, positioning him strongly for the runoff alongside a conservative challenger like Rachida Dati or Pierre-Yves Bournazel, per Ifop and Elabe surveys from late 2024. Incumbent Anne Hidalgo's announcement against re-election has fragmented the left, elevating Grégoire while right-wing consolidation boosts their second-place odds amid national Republican Party dynamics. Traders weigh these implied probabilities against potential left-wing alliances and Macronist interventions, with upcoming candidate declarations and early 2025 primaries as key catalysts before the March vote.
