Trader consensus on Polymarket heavily favors Péter Magyar as Hungary's next prime minister, reflecting his commanding lead in recent nationwide polls over incumbent Viktor Orbán amid Fidesz's eroding support. Key drivers include Magyar's Tisza party surging to 40-45% in surveys, fueled by voter backlash against economic stagnation, inflation, and corruption scandals tied to Orbán allies, such as the 2024 child pardon controversy that propelled Magyar's rise. Orbán retains a loyal base through incumbency and media control, but polls show him trailing in head-to-head matchups by double digits. Minor candidates like László Toroczkai draw fringe nationalist votes. The 2026 parliamentary election remains the pivotal event, with upcoming EU budget disputes potentially swaying sentiment further.
